One of my favorite traditions is eating Popeye's fried chicken with my parents on Christmas Eve. Not sure how it started but it is what we do every year on Christmas Eve.

I love how everyone on both sides of my family have started coming to my house on Christmas Eve for dinner so my husband and I don't have to choose between families. I love all the tradition that surrounds this time of year and the togetherness. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and I love the products.

My favorite tradition is decorating the Christmas tree with my son. I buy new stuff every year to make it a little more interesting (he has such a good memory, it's hard to recycle decorations!). But we always have to have a Mommy Bird, Daddy Bird and His own Bird - that never changes!

Every year we make cookies from recipes from my great grandmother.

How cool are the bird houses! I am plum crazy for plum crazy! Best part of Christmas is we celebrate on Christmas Eve and as kids we always waited for midnight to open up the stockings and gifts from relatives. Then bedtime and Christmas day we opened what Santa left.

I got married a little over a year ago...so the holidays aren't completely ironed our and we have to "share" traditions. So this year we get to do a family tradition from my side...we're spending Christmas in Las Vegas :) Christmas in Vegas is amazing! The decor is to die for & the stores stay open :) We'll still do my other favorite tradition, which is attend Christmas Eve service...but it will just be in Las Vegas this year :)

all of my holiday memories are best when my dad is there. No matter what we are doing, if he's there it's awesome. My time is running short on having him around and I can't wait to spend another holiday with him.

My favorite tradition On Christmas morning (in the past!) was when my sister and I would wake up extra early (because of course ... how could a kid sleep IN on Christmas?!) and sneak into the living room - we would empty out our stockings (this was before my mom started wrapping the gifts in there) and look at everything, then try our best to fit it all back in the same way. Then (and this still applies if we are at mom & dad's for Christmas) we make the coffee because the rule is: Mom & Dad do NOT get out of bed until their coffee is ready! Good memories.

My husband and I, our tradition is to read the Christmas story on Christmas Day before we open our gifts.

Susan said...

My favorite tradition is the Gold and Silver gift tradition that we started with our children 30 years ago. Every year in addition to a few gifts they receive a Gold Gift (one wrapped in gold paper that is picked out especially for them from me (Mom). It is really never anything on their list..it is just something that makes me think of them or an heirloom type item. The Gold gift is ofter their favorite gift. Dad wraps up the newly minted silver coins from that year in Silver paper..they have proof sets even from the year they were born.

These little birdhouses are sooo adorable! the minute I saw them I wanted to make one too! How cute would they be if feathers were used to cover the roof? Cute cute cute! Thanks for all the inspiration! And the plum Crazy stocking! LOVE IT! Our family always went way overboard on the stocking stuffers, after all they are the most fun to seek out. We would wrap each item and spend an hour or more unwrapping each little surprise on Christmas morning!

Wow that Purple bird house is amazing!! Hard to find purple scrappy stuff and it is my favorite color!

My favorite holiday tradition is the week before Christmas my hubby's entire family gets together and makes dozens and dozens of cookies starting with Candy Cane cookies, Cherry Winks, Sugar Cookies, and more. That way each mini family within our family gets dozens of cookies to enjoy! Also on Christmas Eve we open one gift from each other and it is usually new pajamas and a small toy or book. The kids love it and so do I!

Christmas 2003 my daughter was 2(almost 3) and the gas on the oven got screwed up so the turkey for dinner wasn't cooked. Everyone was starving, so we had Dessert first so no one expired from the wait! LOL
And our favorite tradition was born.
The kids (and grow ups) all love having dessert first, my Dad says it's like "getting away with something!"
I hope i win!! I haven't had a stocking in a long time!!!

My absolute favorite tradition is setting up my Christmas tree. My Mother loved Christmas and each year she would set up a different themed tree. She taught each of my sister's and myself how to decorate a tree so it was perfect. I lost my Mom a year ago so trimming the tree is a bit heartwrenching for me now but I still love it.
The product give away is amazing. Thanks for the chance. You guys are awesome!!!

Years ago when my mother found out that she had cancer she wanted to make the holidays extra special for us (there 8 of us plus our significant others) so that we would have a lot of special memories of and with her. My mother was a Fashionista! She was always setting trends around where we lived. So she started a tradition of formal Christmas dinners with a 'fashion show' everyone would dress up to the Ts and do their 'thing' at the end of the night after all the kids have opened their presents the adults got to 'play' my mother even bought trophies and ribbons to hand out to the winners and runnerups. She made up all kinds of titles too. Most creative, most noticeable change, etc so that we wouldn't feel left out. It was always so fun searching for the 'perfect' dress the holidays. We still carry on that tradition with my nieces and nephews. We always have fun remembering those memories of my mom. And she also started us playing family bingo after all presnets were opened and everyone was too stuffed to do anything but were still too excited to sleep. Sorry for such a long post but itjust brought up all these memories. Thanks for letting me share. Melynda

We began new traditions 3 years ago after my Mama died and I look forward to celebrating them again for a 4th year. My in-laws come stay with us for 2 1/2 weeks and we jump into the season with a few annual activities. We have lunch for just the girls (my mother-in-law, my daughter, a couple of her lifelong friends that feel like my own, my sister, and my sister's mother-in-law) at a cozy little tearoom. Our whole family sees a Christmas movie in the theater after having dinner out together one night (this is where my husband, son, dad, and father-in-law get to join us!). The guys catch a hockey game together and also go to Independence Bowl pep rally the night before the game. We go to Natchitoches to see the Christmas lights along the river. We have dinner on Christmas Eve with the entire family and kick it off with a special Christmas cocktail and a toast. We made the decision 3 years ago to stop exchanging gifts and make charitable donations instead. Last year we adopted a family who lost everything in an apartment fire. We have no commercial shopping stress and concentrate on enjoying our time with loved ones - our traditions also make for GREAT scrapbook pages!!! I really adore all your products, so thanks for sharing your creativity!

My favorite tradition is making a bed for baby Jesus. Each time I catch my kids doing something kind or Christ-like, I let them put a piece of straw into the manger. Then on Christmas morning, baby Jesus shows up sleeping on the nice pile of straw they've made.

My favoite tradition is hiding the Christmas pickle in our Christmas tree for my 2 girls to find. My husband bought the pickle our first time out shopping for decorations. He thought it was a funny ornament and got it to make me mad about a pickle on the tree because shopping for ornaments was not fun for him. Now my girls love finding it in the tree and he says every year are'nt you glad I bought that pickle! LOL!

There are 2 things I love about the holidays.
1. Decorating the tree, which started with my grandmother, who I swear had that tree marked in some way that she knew where every ornament went. Used to take us a month to get everything right. My own tree is comparison is a lot more easy going.
2. The giving whether to family, friends, toys for tots, whichever. I love seeing the smiles and hearing the joy by phone (our farthest gifts go to Germany.

In the "olden days," Catholics were not supposed to eat meat on Christmas Eve. We still carry on that tradition and have a feast of FISH! We all love it. Happy Holidays!

our favorite holiday tradition is one which started with my oldest son (12) years ago. when he finally realized who santa was... santa would leave a "real" small christmas tree on the door step for him - ring the bell - and fly off into the sky with all of his reindeer. as he started growing so did the size of the tree. he outgrew the "idea" of santa, although he still gets a "santa tree" - so, the tradition has continued with our 3 year old. the excitement in both of their eyes, the wonder of looking for santa and his reindeer and the excited "bye santa, thank you!" is a wonderful beginning to our christmas. "jesus is the reason for the season"

My favorite holiday tradition was running into my brother's room and jumping up and down on his bed to wake him up Christmas morning. Morning was not his favorite time, but this was the only time that I could get away with torturing him with song, dance and leaps on his bed. Good times ;0)
Now that I am a parent, I have children that do the same thing to me. Christmas Karma?

the best X'mas tradition i have here in South Africa is to go to the beach the whole day on the 24th of December. then everyone cleans up nicley and we read the Nativity Story while the sun is setting and then just before it is dark, we do the gifts - little kids can't wait that long after a whole day in the sun, sea and sand!! i have blogged and scrapped all your wonderful layouts from when you were in SA, and LOVE the stamp you gave me - I use it all the time!

These birdhouses are just so beautiful. What beautiful designs and colors they are. A tradition I miss is one we used to do when my son was about 3 years old and continued (believe it or not, until he was 12). He would leave a note that he wrote (I did it when he was little & I still have all the notes) along with a drawing he made, an empty glass and Santa's favorite cookies (really his Daddy's) on the table. He would then leave sugar cubes on the window sill in the kitchen for the reindeer. His note would direct Santa to open the fridge and help himself to milk and the cookies on the table. In the morning he would rush in and get all excited because the sugar cubes were gone and all the cookies except about 4 which Santa left for him. But what really excited him was the note that Santa left him. He would actually run to look for the note before even looking or opening his presents.
Now this part of the tradition we still do. In the morning I serve danishes, rolls and coffee or hot chocolate. We then take our things into the living room, light up the tree and start to open gifts. One gift at a time for each person, for example, I open a gift (ooh & aahh), then my son, then my husband and any other family members that were staying with us. Then we start the same sequence with the next gift. We found that this allowed each gift to be appreciated and not just opened, tossed on the side and a grab for another one in a mad rush. Thirty something years later, we still do the same thing.

My husband & I started a tradition our 1st Christmas together. We get new PJ's to open Christmas Eve. When the kids were little we would look at lights with Christmas music playing in the car & open PJ's when we got home. They couldn't wait to get into them, as then Santa would soon be there. Now we have a race to see who can put their PJ's on the quickest. We just celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary.

Besides getting time to scrapbook???? (Yes at least between Christmas & New Years I do get time! :D)

I'd have to say baking cookies & making chocolate suckers with my kids. My favorite tradition is only a few years old. When my first grandchild was born, I wanted to have a special way to celebrate with just the two of us. I have a big red drawstring Santa bag with his name on it. I collect fun things all year long for the bag. Christmas morning, after all the other presents are opened and the wrapping paper is being picked up, he and I sneak away to open the "Nanny" bag. Now I have two grandsons and each has a "Nanny" bag. I love the "we" time that is spent with my grandsons. Oh, they are 6 and 2 years old!

plate of goddies and the melodies sung by each young and old LeBaron relative. After we return the hats and bells and chat around fire barrels. All while sipping on home made hot cocoa and donuts. I mean seriously, old fashion traditions always win!

I Love that all my children and grandchildren are able to come on Christmas Day for a special Christmas Dinner. This tradition started when my kids were small, my Mom was sick and it was hard for her to do a dinner. My Dad was always taking care of her, and was always busy, so we started having s Special Christmas Dinner. My Mom Dad, and my Grandma all would come down and enjoy Christmas, spend the day and have Christmas Dinner. Even through my Mom, Dad and Grandma are all gone, this is something I've been able to keep going now, even with my kids all married and with families of their own, we always manage to get together this one special day all at the same time. I Love the Christmas Spirit and the gift of having family at home. I know that I'm Blessed because my family all live close enough to make it home for Christmas.

I love the bird houses!

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is our church's giving tree. You pick a tag and it tells you the age of a person and what they would like. The gifts are for families in need. I really enjoy shopping for these gifts. I like the idea of a totally anonymous gift for someone that really needs it. It breaks my heart though when it is a little child and they ask for underwear or socks. That is when I like to add something unexpected in the package.

My favorite holiday tradition is counting down the days till Christmas using a Christmas tree and ornament wall hanging that my mother and grandmother made when I was small. The little ornaments are each handcrafted of felt, beads and sequins - there are snowmen, angels, bulbs and on Christmas Day there is a cute Santa to put at the top of the tree. I adored this tradtion when I was small and now this wall hanging is in my entry way and the kids still look forward to getting it out every year. I never need to remind them to add an ornament in the morning. So special and heart warming.

The best Christmas we've had were hunting for the right Christmas tree each year with my children when they were small and with my husband.Crazy things happened, like a frenzy to find the right tree. From hitting my head on the pole that holds the trees up to look at. Picking a tree and then someone else is looking at the same tree but we got it first. Making cookies, hoping I was off work to be home with them, watching them open gifts, and screaming that this is just what I wanted... To live those times again just for one moment..

Mom and I used to make cookies and candies each year to take to co-workers and friends at their jobs. Also people like the Postman, newspaper delivery people. We would wrap up Holiday decorated paper plates and I would make small gift cards to go on the ribbons that thanked each person or group for their help or service during the year. Mom has since gone to Heaven, but I have continued the tradition in her memory, and still enjoy doing so! My favorite tradition is that DH and I spend christmas together, just the two of us, and we have so much fun. Christmas Eve we have a romantic dinner and watch A Christmas Carol, then we go to bed and somehow during the night we each manage to fill the stockings without waking each other up. Christmas morning we open stockings, have a decadent breakfast, then find the fireplace channel on TV, open the tree presents, and spend the rest of the day in jammies just playing with our new 'toys' and enjoying the time together.

This is the second year for my family's newest tradition. We meet once a week for some fun and we exchange one gift each. Tomorrow night is our Monopoly game night and I got them each a tee shirt with thier names on them. The letters look like they were cut from the monopoly property deeds.Waay cool. We will have a movie night to see the Chipmunk's Squeakwell and thier gift will be a movie card tucked inside a "potty pocket"( a toilet paper tube covered and embellished). One week we don't have anything special planned yet, to be announced. The last day will be our traditional Christmas day but we have to do it on Christmas Eve morning because as a CCU nurse I have to work Christmas day this year. Last year we had a concert night and we may do that again.
I want the Plum Crazy line so bad I can hardly stand it. All my fingers and toes are crossed. Thanks, ms.cheryl

My favorite tradition was Christmas Eve at my grandparents house with my huge Italian family. I would bring all my scrapbooking stuff there, and all the kids would create their own ornament. Each kid would put their ornament on the tree and after dinner, we all gathered around the tree. My grandma/nana would pick her favorite ornament off the tree and whoever made that ornament would get a $100 bill. Imagine that excitement when you're a kid!!! After that we managed to eat tons of desserts, fruit and chestnuts, even though we were so full from dinner. To this day, we still carry on with that tradition. Everyone looks forward to it and all I can say is thank goodness for scrapbooking! I've even managed to get several of the girls addicted to scrapbooking through the years! :) Merry Christmas to all and hoping 2010 will be filled with love, peace and happiness.

What wonderful stories! We really don't have any traditions in our family so I'll share a memory instead. One year, my dad got a deal on three(!) Christmas trees so we had fun decorating each one differently. I'm pretty sure we ran out of ornaments that year, lol.

Ever since I was little I have always been the one to set out the nativity display in our house. It came from my grandma...it is an old cardboard stable with a glittered star (we've had to re-glitter it 2 times!), a red Christmas light that - when plugged in - glows inside the stable, and a lot of plastic/porcelein figurines. I always have to choose which ones to put out because over the years we've accumulated a lot of different wisemen, mangers, baby Jesus' and shepherds! lol. I always take my time putting each piece in the exact 'right' place each season. I even put gold garland inside the stable to look like hay! It is a very special tradition for me every year :D

My fav tradition is giving an ornament to each child and grandchild each year. This was done for me and now I do it. I am now 60 so we have a lot of ornaments. Then as we decorate the tree together the memories flow and we talk about them. Each ornament has a meaning for the person that has happened during the year. The year each grandchild was born I made an ornament with a note rolled up inside and then added glitter and other small items. The note was opened up as they got older and read to them. It told them about my excitment of their birth and some of my hopes for them.

Wow How do I pick just one favorite tradition? Over the years we've come to enjoy several traditions. As my kids are now older, we've started a couple new traditions about 10 years ago and counting!. Our traditions are alittle different, and can't have one without the other, so about 10 years ago, when our kids were old enough to understand and see how much fun anticipation can be, we decided to make christmas last ALL day. Instead of a huge paper ripping contest, all at once, one after another, we each open one gift every 60 minutes. We all sit and watch each person open their gift, then we would continue on watching everyone.

My kids REALLY love doing this, christmas literally lasts ALL day.. Sometimes well into the early evening lol Thats the lucky one with the most gifts. Even at 17, 20 and 22, they get just as excited about it as they did when they were 4, 7 and 9 lol. Not sure which one does it, but someone always runs into the kitchen and sets the timer on the stove cause when that rings its a mad dash to the living room. At the same time when we decided to make christmas all day long, we also decided to make it alittle more fun, so we draw names and the name that you picked was the person who you decided which present he/she gets to open next!! Its so much fun, of course if they got to pick their own gifts, they would always go for the biggest box, but in our house, you have to wait till your gift decider finds the gift for you and hands it to you. So no matter how bad you want to open the big one, you have to wait till your gift decider says you can. lol Its quite funny to watch. I"m not sure what I enjoy the most, watching the excitement as the clock counts down, and the yelling of how many minutes are left by one of the kids.. to all sitting down together, watching one gift at a time get opened. If I have to pick my most favorite, and the most favorite of my kids, it would be opening the gifts 1 hour at a time.
Christmas lasts forever in our house!!

Baking Christmas cookies with the kids. It is funny how my husband never fails to get in a flour fight with the kids. We always go out to dinner, for Chinese, on Christmas Eve with my husband's family. Oh and how could I forget.....getting the whole family, my husband, my son, my 2 daughter and myself, and piling up in our bed to watch Christmas classic cartoons at night! This year now that the younger one are old enough I plan on starting a new tradition. Making our own Christmas ornaments out of cinnamon dough or salt dough. Merry Christmas and may you all have a blessed Holiday season!

My family loves to read a portion of the Christmas story from the Bible. This last year for the first time, my 9 year old asked if she could do some of the reading. This is the child who will not read in public or even respond to a simple "Hello" from friends without turning every shade of red. So, u can guess that my reaction was to be in a state of total shock! Now...this was an awesome scrapbook moment! This was also the beginning of new Christmas tradition, she has decided to give us a devotion that she has worked on all by herself. The Christmas season has really changed her from a shy 9 year old to a tender "Christ" filled 10 year old young lady. I am very thankful for this time of year! I hope everyone as an awesome Christmas!
