At first look, you may think of Glitz Design's new Hoopla collection as a birthday themed collection, since a lot of the embellishments are centered around birthdays and celebrations. The collection though is packed full of elegant patterns that lend themselves to so much more. I think this stretched canvas project that I created recently illustrates the versatility of this collection.
I added several layers to the project to give it lots of depth and dimension. I began by covering the canvas with the Floral pattern from the collection. Next I added a layer of Pipework, then a Paper Layers page, and then a second piece of Pipework using the pattern on the opposite side. I topped the layers with a photo adhered under a Peek-a-Boo transparency. Each layer was brushed with Black Soot Distress Ink and was mounted on thin chipboard and adhered with adhesive foam squares.
I dug around in my flower stash and found this older flower from Prima that was a perfect match of blue with a punch of green. I brushed a bit of Black Soot Distress Ink on the edges. I added a stem of crystals and jeweled leaves by Prima also.
I brushed Rock Candy Distress Crackle paint on the round date sticker from the cardstock Journaling stickers. While the paint was wet, I added two Tim Holtz Idea-ology Game Spinners to the sticker with a brad. I added them while the paint was wet so that it could work like glue and help keep them in place.
I added a bit of vintage grosgrain ribbon with a layer of Tim Holtz Idea-ology Tissue Tape over it. I brushed a Black Soot Distress Ink on the edges of "Celebrate" cardstock Titles sticker and added it over the Tissue Tape.
I really love this finished piece! I think it is such a pretty tribute to a favorite photo and special day.
