Maya Birthday Cards with Christine Penaflor

Good morning! Today I would like to share a couple of birthday cards that I created with some fabulous Glitz Design products. I have a sister-in-law who celebrates a birthday in September and one of these cards will be going to her soon! :)

The first card was inspired by this week’s Card Patterns sketch #80. For this card, I started with a cream card base. Next, I took a piece of Maya Damask paper, edged it with a metallic gold leafing pen and mounted onto the card front.  I punched a border along the bottom edge of the Maya Polka paper and layered a piece of aida cloth on top of this piece of paper.  I punched a piece of the Maya Damask paper, mounted a piece of white lace on top of it, and edged it with the gold leafing pen. This piece was adhered on top of the aida cloth layer as shown.

Next, I die cut a label from the back side of the Maya Damask paper and added the sentiment using the pink block alphabet stickers. The ribbon was threaded through the label and a bow was adhered to the right side of the label as shown. Three rolled paper flowers were created using the Maya Polka paper and embellished with pink pearls. Finally a Prima pearl swirl was added to the card for the finishing touch.

To create this card, I first scored the front of the card base using my Scor Pal at ½-inch increments vertically. Next, I cut a piece of Maya Polka and mounted it to a piece of navy embossed cardstock. Then I layered a length of lace on top of the Maya Polka paper. After die cutting the kaleidoscope lace pendant shape from the green side of the Maya Damask paper, I adhered a navy die cut label with the sentiment on top of the label. I embellished the label with a couple of pieces of a doily above and below the sentiment and added white pearls to the green kaleidoscope pendant die cut paper.

Next, I threaded a length of pink ribbon through the ends of the label and secured the ends under the navy cardstock. Finally, I embellished the card with two pink Prima flowers and a white Prima flower to complete it.
