Beautiful Vintage Love Cards with Christine Penaflor

Good morning! It’s finally feeling like fall here, and we’ve enjoyed a few cooler days recently. However, our temperatures in Southern California still linger close to the eighties which makes me long for more cooler days ahead.
Fall is actually my favorite season. I love seeing the trees in our neighborhood turn color, and the cards that I will be sharing with you today were inspired by the fall colors I’ve been seeing lately.

This first card was made with the following supplies:
  • Glitz Designs Vintage Love Polka (VL2853) patterned paper
  • Glitz Designs Distressed Couture Stripe (DC2204) patterned paper
  • Glitz Designs Vintage Love Letters (VL2389) patterned paper
  • Glitz Designs Whatnots – Vintage Style Cards (V2679)
  • Glitz Designs Teeny Alpha – Brown Round (C2792)
  • Everlasting Keepsakes chipboard heart
  • Silver glass glitter
  • Vintage lace
  • Silk flowers
  • Sizzix embossing folder
  • Cream organza ribbon
  • Cuttlebug “Thanks” sentiment die
To create this card, I began with with a 5” x 7” card base made from brown cardstock. Next, I cut a piece of Vintage Love Polka patterned paper and distressed the edges. I took a vintage style card from the Glitz Whatnots collection and added a length of lace to the bottom of the card. I layered a piece of organza ribbon on top of the vintage card and then adhered this piece to the card front.
I cut a piece of Distressed Couture Stripe patterned paper and used the dark red side of it. I embossed this piece using a Sizzix embossing folder and then mounted the embossed paper onto a brown cardstock mat. These pieces were then adhered to a piece of Vintage Love Letters patterned paper (the light blue side). This was then mounted onto the card front using foam adhesive.

To embellish the front of the card, I adhered silver glass glitter to a chipboard heart which was adhered to the red embossed paper.  Silk flowers and leaves were added to the side of the glittered heart.  The Glitz Designs Teeny Alpha stickers were adhered to a small piece of the light blue side of the Vintage Love Letters patterned paper for the sentiment and adhered to the card front as shown in the photo. Finally, the “thanks” sentiment was die cut from brown cardstock, adhered to the light blue side of the Vintage Love Letters patterned paper and hand cut to complete the sentiment.

This second card was created with the following supplies:
  • Glitz Designs Distressed Couture Stripe (DC2204) patterned paper
  • Glitz Designs Vintage Love Damask (VL2358) patterned paper
  • Glitz Designs Vintage Love Letters (VL2389) patterned paper
  • Glitz Designs Whatnots – Vintage Style Cards (V2679)
  • Glitz Designs Teeny Alpha – Brown Round (C2792)
  • Everlasting Keepsakes chipboard heart
  • Silver glass glitter
  • Lace
  • Prima flowers and pearl swirls
  • Bazzill flowers
  • Sizzix embossing folder
  • Cuttlebug “So Kind” sentiment die
  • Spellbinders Nestabilities label die
  • Martha Stewart border punch
To create this card, I began with a square card base made from tan cardstock. I cut a square piece of Glitz Distressed Couture Stripe patterned paper and embossed the dark red side of the paper to add texture to it.  The edges of this piece of paper were distressed. Next, I mounted a vintage card from the Glitz Whatnots collection onto a piece of dark brown cardstock. This vintage card was then adhered to the dark red embossed paper.
From the light blue side of the Vintage Love Letters patterned paper, I punched a border and embellished this piece with a length of lace. This was adhered to the card front on top of the vintage card. A length of cream ribbon was adhered on top of the lace. I cut a label from the Vintage Love Damask patterned paper and mounted it onto dark brown cardstock. This piece was adhered onto the card front as shown in the photo.

Finally, to embellish this card, I adhered the Prima and Bazzil flowers and Prima pearl swirls on top of the die cut label, added the die cut sentiment which was mounted on the tan side of the Vintage Love Damask patterned paper, and adhered the Glitz Teeny Alpha stickers onto the cream ribbon to complete the sentiment on the card.
I hope you enjoyed seeing these cards, and that you will be inspired to create your own fall-inspired projects as well! Thanks so much for visiting today!
